Why I chose to build a Social Media Marketing company?
I recently did a career assessment test. I like trying out different assessments because of the varying philosophies that accompany each one. There were two major themes in this last assessment that stood out to me:
- Definitely enjoy being in charge and have the experience and skills to do so competently
- Certainly do not enjoy assembly line work or redundant tasks
I bring these up to illustrate some of my reasons for choosing to live in the insane and unpredictable word of entrepreneurship. I even take it one step further, the majority of my clients live in that world as well. Is that insanity or am I really brave? You choose.
I would like to give a few definitions for Social Media. Sometimes there is some confusion with this term and what the true purpose is.
- Forms of electronic communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (such as pictures and videos)
- Websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.
As you can see Social Media is pretty vast. It goes beyond just the most popular sites that we think of: Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Instagram and Pinterest. Forms of electronic communication…that is what I am interested in. That is what drives the core Lense & Co. How do we utilize the unlimited power of the internet to get your awesome ideas, illustrations and experiences out to those that want and need it? I love the ever-changing rules that oftentimes end up driving many of you mad. Another theme from the career assessment: I thrive on rapid and consistent change. It is my aim to normalize (as much as I can) the shaky and ever evolving social media marketing climate, so that you can continue business as usual while reaching your clients, your prospects and your supporters.
Empowering small businesses and entrepreneurs through social media marketing is my calling. I am able to refine your message and increase your reach, thus helping our leaders and innovators accomplish even more. I am always in awe of the phenomenal people who I work with. They are amazing coaches, artists, writers, fashionistas, organizers and change agents.
So you see, I choose to build a social media marketing company because social media is a tool, if properly used, that can grow revenues, grow supporters and grow change. I thrive on change. Some people fear change, especially if that change is rapid. I want to ease those fears. I work with my clients to better understand the climate of social media marketing as it relates to their business. I love sharing tools and tips that save time and remove fear.
As I close, my mind drifts to a meeting that I had last week with a partner / client of mine. I truly believe in forming partnerships with clients / vendors that are excellent at what they do and that share the same values / ethics as myself and my organization. I was going over her annual marketing strategy. I shared some tips on scheduling posts within Facebook. We also spoke about backdating posts. This is especially good for folks that have a dormant social media period and want to fill those gaps, after the fact. My business partner was immediately filled with enthusiasm as she learned about this simple tool that would save her time and improve her online presence. I love when that happens.
