Five Small Biz Tips to Planning Your Best Year
I keep an eye on what’s happening within the local city offices: new initiatives, new business services and new employment opportunities. This week I noticed that many of them have started the hiring process for seasonal summer jobs. It is January. How many entrepreneurs, small businesses and nonprofits are this proactive in January or at anytime during the year? How many are consistently on-top of their calendar, goals and progress reports? We know that there are a lot of small organizations that are ultra-organized and have their entire calendar, pipeline and action item lists mapped out before New Year’s Eve. But there are too many of us that rely too much on the wind to carry our businesses onto the right path.
Are you ready to take back control of your life, your success, your sanity? I have compiled a brief list of easy to do tips to help get you and your business on the 2016 path to success. Once you get started, the rest will follow.
5 Small Business Planning Tips for 2016
Reflect on 2015. The failures, the successes, the things that just didn’t happen.
Brainstorm your 2016 plans and goals. Be Specific. Get creative and tear down that box. See what sticks.
Write It Down. I can personally attest to the success of writing down your goals and plans. It makes it all happen much faster and smoother. It gets your mind and body going in the right direction. Plus its fun to go back and check everything that you accomplished.
Study trends in your industry. Study marketing trends. What social media platforms are hot this year? What events do you and your business need to attend or participate in? Where are your consumers spending their money and their time?
Grow your Network. Get out and meet like-minded people. Grow your online presence for you and your business. LinkedIn is growing. How many LinkedIn requests do you receive whether you have created an account or not? It’s a great way to keep record of your professional contacts and folks that you are interested in metalworking with. Your next big deal could be only 1 connection away.
Maybe it’s not too late to add a few of these to your New Year’s Resolutions. Cheers to a happy, healthy and successful 2016!
